With 15 million monthly users holding billions in self-custodied assets, Phantom sits at the front line of crypto. That also means that as Phantom continues growing and evolving into a consumer finance platform, investing in institutional-grade security has never been more important.
That’s why we’re excited to welcome Clement Chen as our new Head of Security, and to announce that Phantom is joining the Crypto Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAC), the leading industry group connecting crypto leaders to share real-time intelligence and stay ahead of emerging threats.
Meet Clement: Bringing institutional-grade security to Phantom
Clement’s arrival marks the next chapter in our commitment to seamless, user-friendly and institutional-grade wallet security.
“Phantom is one of the most popular entry points for new crypto users, and we have a responsibility not just to protect our own users, but to help lead the entire ecosystem toward a safer, more resilient future. As a first step, I'm excited to join Crypto ISAC to shape how the crypto industry anticipates and responds to threats. Over time, we will build an immune system for Phantom that continuously detects attacks and defends Phantom and its users, so they have peace of mind experimenting with crypto and exploring all of its benefits.”
Clement Chen
Clement brings nearly two decades of security experience across crypto and fintech, including senior roles at Robinhood, LinkedIn and, most recently, Hidden Road.
Clement served as Head of Security Engineering at Hidden Road, a global credit network for institutions serving both digital assets and traditional finance markets. There, he helped safeguard daily flows of hundreds of millions in crypto across hedge funds, market makers, and global trading firms.
Before Hidden Road, Clement was a Security Lead at Robinhood during a major growth phase for the company. He helped scale the security team 4x while implementing defenses to protect rapidly growing user assets amid surging platform traffic and heavy scrutiny. He also spent time at LinkedIn, where he built foundational security features for Linkedin's Cloud and Data infrastructure.
Phantom is built on the belief that we can accelerate the adoption of crypto by making it safe and easy-to-use. This makes our commitment to security non-negotiable. Phantom was the first wallet to implement advanced defenses against simulation spoofing and continues to set the standard for self-custody wallets. In 2024, we acquired Blowfish and Bitski to accelerate the development of critical wallet infrastructure and bring institutional-grade security features directly to our users. Introducing ISAC’s first charter member
We’re also announcing that Phantom is joining the Crypto Information Sharing and Analysis Center (Crypto ISAC) as its first charter member alongside founding members like the Solana Foundation, Coinbase, Binance.US, and others in a shared mission to strengthen security and foster collaboration across the crypto industry.
Phantom’s membership underscores its deep commitment to building safe, easy-to-use crypto products through collaboration, intelligence sharing, and proactive threat detection. As one of the most widely used entry points to crypto and DeFi, Phantom plays a critical role in keeping crypto users safe and securing the broader ecosystem. We’re honored to continue ISAC’s mission of strengthening security across the crypto ecosystem.
“We’re pleased to welcome Phantom to the Crypto ISAC community. As one of the most trusted crypto products, Phantom brings a user-focused perspective and technical scale that advance our collective mission. Their membership underscores the strong momentum of Crypto ISAC as we unite wallets, exchanges, foundations, and DeFi providers to strengthen the resilience of the global crypto ecosystem.”
